Abbey is a born and raised, 3rd generation Utahn. She is proud to call the industrial state her home and identifies with the hard work associated with our state. She is very family oriented and is grateful to have an incredible support system in both her immediate and extended family. Abbey speaks English and Spanish and will graduate with her bachelor's degree in marketing from Utah Valley University in May 2023. When she is not in class, planning an event for Miss Orem, working on her nonprofit, or singing you can find Abbey somewhere in the water. She loves all kinds of water sports, especially wake surfing. Wish her luck as she prepares to compete at Miss Utah 2023 this coming June!
Abbey began her advocacy at eight years old to support Alopecia awareness. She had been diagnosed with Alopecia Areata and wanted to start talking about it. Once she healed, she began advocating for other causes: adoption, special education, foster care, domestic violence awareness, and sexual assault awareness. She is now an advocate for closing the gender representation gap in Utah through her 501(c)(3), The Grit Girl Group and her Miss Orem Service Initiative, "The LeadHERship Project." The LeadHERship project aims to encourage women in Orem and all over Utah to take on leadership roles and connect them with the resources to do so.
Abbey started singing before she could even speak, but officially started training when she was 12 years old. She was part of the Salt Lake City Children's Choir, the Riverton Children's Choir, Bingham High School Choir, and many musicals before she started solo training at age 15. Abbey studied classically until she graduated high school; then, in 2020, began studying broadway and opera performance with Gary Sorenson. Abbey says, "It's been a fun journey, and I'm excited to see where my voice will go!"
